The Operational Services Division of Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council is looking for dedicated individuals to drive and supervise refuse and recycling collection vehicles, ensuring a timely, high quality, safe, friendly and efficient service to our residents.
Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council collects almost 120,000 refuse and recycling containers each week.&nbsp; Over half of all collected waste is recycled. You will be the primary driver of a vehicle up to 26 tonnes in support of the Council’s refuse and recycling collections. You will be responsible for its activities and crew, ensuring their safety and that all tasks are completed efficiently and within set timelines. You will also arrange the safe disposal of the vehicle’s contents to waste sites guaranteeing all site instructions are adhered to.&nbsp; You must also be aware of all COSHH regulations and keep up to date with new legislation by attending all training provided to you.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You must be able to work safely on your own, and methodically as part of a team as you will also be required to help the crew with emptying refuse and recycling bins. You will be flexible, as you will be required to work early mornings and bank holidays. You will be able to communicate effectively and politely with the public.&nbsp;
You must already possess a valid LGV licence category C and a valid Driver CPC qualification. You will be required to bring both your licence and Driver CPC photocards to the interview. Full, ongoing Driver CPC training is provided as part of the role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEN Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) Team Manager to support this vision.The successful applicant will be passionate and driven. They will have extensive knowledge of legislation, statutory frameworks including the Code of Practice, and policy affecting services for young people post-14 and families in relation to SEND. Hackney’s markets are some of London’s most iconic — from the legendary Ridley Road to the indie cool of Broadway Market. As&nbsp;Markets Manager, you’ll take the lead on making them run like clockwork, ensuring every stall is trading, every regulation is met, and every visitor feels part of something special.
You’ll lead the daily delivery of Hackney’s street trading operations, oversee a team of officers, and ensure licensing, compliance, trader performance and customer experience are always top-notch. You’ll also play a hands-on role —&nbsp;spending at least half your working week on the ground, engaging with traders, resolving issues, and helping new businesses thrive.
With every pitch sale and every successful weekend, you’ll be growing the borough’s inclusive economy and making Hackney’s streets buzz with energy.
<h3>What the Role Involves</h3>
- Oversee the day-to-day running of Hackney’s street markets and trading sites
- Line-manage Senior Market Officers and lead on trader engagement, licensing and compliance
- Work on-site every Saturday and two Sundays per month — visible, accessible and active
- Grow income through increased occupancy, smarter layouts, and commercial insight
- Champion inclusive access to trading opportunities and support business development
- Liaise with Highways, Licensing, Enforcement and Finance to ensure seamless delivery
- Support enforcement, arrears recovery and complaint resolution on site
- Monitor trader performance and coach your team to deliver high standards of service
- Be a critical link between frontline delivery, senior leadership, and community impact
