Job Title: Nursery Funding Verification Officer (part-time)
Salary: £29,253 - £32,736 per annum (pro rata as part-time)
Grade: C
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 22.2 hours per week

About the department

The School Effectiveness Team support over two hundred Early Years providers in Thurrock to deliver funded early education to children up to 4 years old. Nursery Funding Verification Officer role sits within the School Effectiveness Team in Children’s Services.

This is a close-knit team who work well together to ensure the early years education and childcare settings in Thurrock are well supported and provide the best possible services to our youngest children in the borough. The role is to monitor and review the funding that the early years settings receive for early years education and childcare provided through the Government Funded 15-30 hours entitlements.

About the Role

This role requires:

A good working knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, Funding agreement and the Equality Act.

  • Experience of working in partnership with stakeholders outside of the team, dealing with sensitive issues in a supportive way.
  • Demonstrating good ICT skills, including Microsoft office and other computer applications.
  • Having excellent communication skills, verbal & written, including the ability to use different methods according to service users’ and professionals’ differing needs.
  • Being able to establish and maintain a good rapport with our external stakeholders (e.g. Providers, Ofsted, Other local councils).
  • Conduct site visits to Providers to perform audit responsibilities (preferable to have a full driving licence with access to own car)
  • Good report writing skills to document findings and maintaining system records

The ideal applicant would:

  • Be educated to NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Be able to evidence the ability to forge strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Be mobile across the borough

Essential qualifications: NVQ 3 or equivalent
DBS Check: Basic
