Job Introduction

Help Shape the Future of Lichfield District

We are Lichfield District Council. A local authority in the Heart of England that provides local services to over 100,000 residents. Our District is a beautiful place to live and work, with its historic city centre which has the impressive Lichfield Cathedral and is the birthplace of Samuel Johnson.

Our organisation is ambitious, innovative, and highly driven to be the best in all that we do. We want to further this growth potential in all key areas of the business by hiring great people. In return, we can build stronger foundations, provide quality services, and help support our company objectives longer term.

About the role

Lichfield District Council is investing in the future of its communities through an ambitious programme of regeneration, development and economic growth. We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Projects Manager to help deliver major town centre and regeneration projects that will shape the district for generations to come.

Working alongside our Performance and Programmes Manager, you'll play a key role in taking projects from concept through to delivery - working with partners, consultants, contractors and local communities to transform places and create opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop their career within regeneration and development while working on high-profile projects with real community impact.

RESPONSIBILITES

You'll support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of regeneration and development projects, including:

  • City centre regeneration and placemaking initiatives
  • Strategic development projects
  • Land and property development opportunities
  • Feasibility studies and business cases
  • Funding bids and external grant applications
  • Procurement of consultants and contractors
  • Project management through design, planning and delivery
  • Stakeholder and community engagement
  • Preparation of reports for senior officers and elected Members

No two days will be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of public and private sector partners to help deliver ambitious projects across the district.

About You

We're looking for an organised and proactive project professional who enjoys working collaboratively and seeing projects through from inception to completion.

Most importantly, you'll bring experience of delivering projects within a regeneration, development, construction or property environment and be confident managing multiple priorities.

You'll ideally have experience of:

  • Project management
  • Major development or regeneration projects
  • Procurement and contractor management
  • Working with stakeholders and partners
  • Preparing reports and business cases
  • Managing project budgets and programmes

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of practical area regeneration work e.g. planning, surveying, property development.
  • Experience of planning/regeneration/ development/ property legislation.
  • Experience of project management within a development/regeneration setting
  • Knowledge and experience of procurement of contractors

Experience within local government is preferred but it isn't essential. If you've successfully delivered complex development or infrastructure projects within the private sector and are looking to make a real difference to communities, we'd love to hear from you.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Evidenced ability to communicate clearly to a wide range of audiences including stakeholders and prepare/ deliver presentations.
  • Ability to use project management systems
  • Capable of working independently and leading multiple workstreams across a programme of projects.
  • Ability to work with financial information and administer accounts/budgets
  • Ability to manage complex projects including procurement, contract coordination and on-site works.

Why Join Us?

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of Lichfield District – a place with a rich heritage, a growing economy, and ambitious plans for the years ahead. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking council that values innovation, community impact, and professional growth.

BENEFITS OF WORKING FOR US

  • Friendly and supportive environment underpinned by our values.
  • Hybrid working including flexibility around working patterns.
  • Local government pension. With the scheme you get Life cover – 3 times your salary as a lump sum if you die in service.
