SharedLives Carer – Join Tower Hamlets Shared Lives
TowerHamlets Shared Lives (THSL) is seeking caring individuals from all parts of ourcommunity to become paid Shared Lives Carers and make a meaningfuldifference to the lives of vulnerable adults in Tower Hamlets.
THSLprovides a community‑basedalternative to traditional care for adults with a learning disability. ThroughShared Lives, a person lives, stays, or spends time with a Carer, using theCarer’s home as a safe and supportive base.
Ouraim is simple: to helpeach person maintain their independence, build confidence, and live a full andconnected life.
Typesof Shared Lives Support
Weare currently recruiting Shared Lives Carers for the following roles:
1.Long Term Placement
Someonelives with you as part of your family or personal network.
• Weekly income: £600–£800 per person(includes care fees, rent, and utilities)
2.Respite Support
Someonestays with you overnight or for short periods.
• Payment: £82–£106 per night per person.
3.Day Support
Spenda day or a few hours each week supporting someone in the community.
• Payment: Up to £88 for 6 hours ofsupport per person.
• You must live in or near Tower Hamletsto provide day support.
SharedLives Carers can support up to three people at a time.
WhatYou’ll Need
• At least one spare bedroom for longterm or respite support (Day support does not require a spare room).
• To be 21 or older.
• To be a full time UK resident or haveleave to remain.
o Please note: we cannot provide visasponsorship.
Ifoffering long term or respite support, you may live outside Tower Hamlets.
WhatShared Lives Carers Do
SharedLives Carers support people with a wide range of day to day tasks and goals,including:
• Cooking, shopping, budgeting, and otherpractical tasks.
• Personal care (washing, dressing,taking medication) – this is not a requirement to become a Carer.
• Building friendships and stayingconnected to family.
• Accessing community activities,education, training, employment, or volunteering.
