We have an exciting opportunity for 5x Technical Licensing Officers to join our Property Licensing Team. This is a career-graded role offering development and progression, giving you to make a real difference in improving the lives of residents across Hackney.
Reporting to the Principal Licensing Officer, you will support the delivery of Hackney’s property licensing schemes through accurate casework, technical assessment and high-quality customer service. You will work closely with residents, landlords, agents and internal teams to ensure properties are properly licensed and compliant with legislation.
Progression from Sc6 to SO1 will be based on demonstrated competence, technical capability, experience and consistent performance at SO1 level.&nbsp;
About you
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage casework accurately. You will demonstrate empathy and professionalism when dealing with residents and landlords, recognising the impact that poor housing can have on tenants’ health and wellbeing. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to explain licensing requirements clearly in both written and verbal formats, while remaining impartial and evidence-based.&nbsp;

As a Senior Investment Manager, you will be responsible for managing existing investments, and sourcing and transacting new opportunities to unlock housing in London. You will appraise project proposals, assess counterparties’ risk of default and review project viability, deliverability and risk. For existing investments, you will work closely with partners to monitor delivery and risk, and consider and provide advice on how to best manage risk and respond to variation requests. You will provide regular and accurate reporting on contracted projects, including forecast outputs, budgets and ongoing risks. As a Senior Public Health Specialist, you will work within a team of highly motivated public health staff, supporting the Director of Public Health to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Hackney and the City of London. You will be expected to be able to work across all domains of public health as and when required to do so and with additional training and support if necessary.
As part of our’whole system’ approach to tackling obesity, this fixed term role will lead the co-development, implementation and evaluation of a pilot programme of work to build workforce and community capacity to promote healthy weight. This will involve:
- Strengthening healthy weight competence and confidence among frontline staff and volunteers who support individuals at high risk of obesity, in various service and community settings
- improving awareness of, and access to, information about actions individuals can take to achieve and maintain a healthy weight
- Developing and implementing a plan to address and reduce weight stigma across Hackney and the City.
While based within a central team, the responsibilities of the role will be delivered through collaboration with colleagues across the two local authorities, health and voluntary sector partners, as well as directly with communities.
You will be educated to degree level and have significant public health knowledge and skills, acquired through training, experience or formal study. You will have a knowledge of the causes of ill health and inequalities, combined with a knowledge of public health principles and methodologies.
