Our Private Sector Housing Team regulates unsafe housing within the borough including fire safety in high, medium and low-rise buildings and a reactive service to complaints with a view to rolling out proactive based working projects wherever possible.&nbsp; You will be a motivated and proactive individual who will take responsibility for ensuring high standards, leading a team of 6 officers to regulate the private rented sector in Dacorum.&nbsp; The team is also responsible for delivering HMO licensing under the national mandatory scheme as well as providing sound advice to landlords, tenants and partner agencies.&nbsp; The posts present an ideal opportunity for an individual who already has in-depth experience and knowledge of the regulation of the private sector and are perhaps looking to progress their careers into management. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Team at South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council whilst undertaking and successfully completing a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.
You will receive support from the Devon Home Choice Manager, Devon Home Choice Officers and from the wider Housing teams.
About the role
As the Devon Home Choice Business Support Apprentice, you will be supporting the Devon Home Choice Team to manage the Housing register. This will include assessing applications and awarding the level of priorities for applicants in line with the Devon Home Choice policy, undertaking renewals, and working with customers to enable them to access and understand the Devon Home Choice housing register. You will also work closely with the Housing Enabling and Housing Options teams, giving you the opportunity to learn about a wide range of services.&nbsp;
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable administrative experience and improve your communication and interpersonal skills in a front facing, customer service role.
You will need to be calm and empathetic, with the ability to be assertive and resilient.&nbsp;
This position is based across our offices in Tavistock and Totnes as required, however there is significant flexibility with regards to some homeworking.&nbsp;

This involves working with landowners, stakeholders and local residents to unlock the creation of a new sustainable neighbourhood of up to 1,000 new homes, jobs, open spaces, community facilities and connections, anticipated to come forward as the Camden Film Quarter. We have an exciting opportunity available for an Overseas Arrivals Accommodation Co-ordinator to join our Housing Needs and Options Service, here at Wokingham Borough Council. This exciting new post will provide strategic direction for migration in the borough and will be responsible for coordinating a Council wide response to this increasing demand. This post will identify opportunities to prevent and relief homelessness for this cohort by coordinating bids for funding opportunities and effectively managing existing migration budgets to ensure that preventative measures are put into place that deliver quantifiable outcomes in service delivery.
The Role
As the Overseas Arrivals Accommodation Co-ordinator, you will work closely with senior officers in the Housing Needs and Options Service, as well as with other senior officers across the Council in key areas including Housing, Education, Transport and Community Safety. You will also work closely with the Voluntary and Community Sector.&nbsp;
Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Your main responsibilities will include:
<ul>
<li>Using data and intelligence to forecast migration numbers and future demands on Council services and to produce regular reports to inform the Corporate Leadership Team.</li>
<li>Undertake research to inform policy development and best practice.</li>
<li>Identify and assess potential risks associated with migration pressures, including financial and operational risks.</li>
<li>To manage migration budgets and migration related funding streams, ensuring that allocated budgets deliver preventative measures which lead to cost avoidance and long-term financial sustainability.</li>
<li>Apply project management principles including coordinating project meetings, producing project plans and risk registers; lead on all projects, strategies and policies relating to migration.</li>
<li>Represent the Council in regional forums and partnerships on migration and in discussions with central government bodies, advocating for local needs and ensuring alignment with national policies.</li>
</ul>
About You
We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with an in-depth knowledge of migration, the asylum process and homelessness legislation. The ideal candidate will have:

<li>Experience of managing budgets, project management and partnership working.</li>
<li>An ability to collaborate with senior officers, Elected Members, and partners.</li>
<li>Strong research, evaluation, and analytical skills.</li>
<li>A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to inform and influence senior internal and external stakeholders in key decisions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Programme or project management qualifications or demonstrable experience in supporting projects and/or programmes is highly desirable.</li>
