The Role.

We are seeking a dedicated Sustainable Travel & Road Safety Officer to join our Sustainable Travel & Road Safety Team. The team are responsible for enabling sustainable travel and making roads safer through infrastructure and behaviour change projects. Our work enables healthier lifestyles and lowers carbon emission related to transport, which is the biggest contributor to carbon emissions in North Somerset.

As we move into a significant period of growth in delivery across our electric vehicle charging workstreams we are looking for someone to join the team to assist us as we change operators and start to procure EV infrastructure using multiple funding streams such as the LEVI and Pavement Channels funding to encourage EV use (creation of charging hubs and infrastructure) and run promotional initiatives to increase EV uptake.

As part of a team who work across various sustainable transport areas, this role will require you to work, supported by the Principal Sustainable Travel & Road Safety Officer, to coordinate projects, lead engagement and consultation activity and support site feasibility in the electric vehicle charging space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support procurement & delivery of LEVI funded electric vehicle charging with West of England Combined Authority partner.
  • Deliver North Somerset EV Fleet charging exercise.
  • Coordination of transition of existing infrastructure to new contracts.
  • Pavement Channels trial delivery.
  • Promotional activities related to all the above.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

Work Style.

About You.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about sustainable transport and the transition to electric vehicles, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in relevant discipline, and/ or 3-5 years work experience in related area.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Project (or programme) management experience.

Desirable Criteria:

  • EV infrastructure or policy background, or related area of sustainable transport or climate change.
  • Electric vehicle charging experience.
  • Experience working in a public sector organisation or NGO.
  • Further qualification in relevant discipline e.g. Masters/ Phd.
  • Project management experience.
