Are you a mechanic? City College Peterborough's Study Skills department are looking for a Motor Vehicle Technician to join their team and work alongside the Motor Vehicle Tutor shaping the mechanics of the future.

Share your knowledge and experience of being a mechanic with the young people studying at John Mansfield Campus.

A Motor Vehicle Technicians role and responsibilities include assisting the Motor Vehicle Tutor with the delivery, assessment and administration of lessons; building meaningful rapports with learners and a collaborative work practice with colleagues; and preparations of teaching environments prior to lessons. We are excited about our future and are seeking someone to share and develop our vision for young person learning.

You will work with lecturers to raise the learning and attainment of young people, while promoting their social inclusion, self-esteem and independence. You will get the opportunity to support students in the Motor Vehicle vocational areas of the college and ensure all students are provided with the most appropriate level of support to assist them to access the curriculum, participate in learning and fulfil their potential.

You will need to be able to use your own initiative while supporting learners, dealing with situations with tact and empathy. The need to be flexible in your approach is imperative. You will need to be qualified to GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and ideally have experience of working with people with SEND. We are ambitious for our learners and suitable applicants will possess the drive and determination to support and aspire learners to achieve.

The job role will also include contributing to the continued development of the Department, providing tutorial support for learners, and carrying out the associated administrative tasks connected with the position. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Multi- skilled ability
  • Have a Motor Vehicle qualification
  • Monitor and replenish stock and maintenance of the vehicle workshop
  • Establish effective working relationships with young people
  • Monitor, support and record learner progress
  • Provide innovative and stimulating training
  • Work as part of a team to achieve timely results

All positions are working with 14-24 year old Learners
