Team Manager opportunity in Breathe Trust Connect, City Wide Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to lead specialist therapeutic support services for birth parents impacted by the loss of a child through adoption, pregnant care experienced young people (New Growth) and connecting children and young people to important people they have lost whilst in foster care (lifelong Links).
This role is central to establishing high quality, evidence based services that works in a trauma informed way providing therapeutic services to people accessing specialist support. The team manager will be responsible for supervising a highly skilled workforce with a range of therapeutic qualifications such as DDP, Theraplay, Therapeutic Life Story Work, EMDR, Circle of Security and Video Interaction Guidance. The role requires a sound knowledge of therapeutic practice and supervision.
As the Team Manager, you will lead and support a team of social workers and social care practitioners, ensuring high quality, formulation led practice and strong adherence to the BtC practice model. You will provide reflective supervision and line management, oversee risk and safeguarding, ensure interventions address the underlying unmet needs of complex trauma. You will work closely with multi agency partners, contribute to service development, and maintain high standards of practice across the services.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the team to ensure prevention of repeat removals, specialist therapeutic support offered in the adult, pregnancy and parenting pathways.
  • Improving young people’s engagement in maternity health and ensuring they have access to specialist therapeutic support.
  • Strengthening family relationships and tackling underlying systemic issues.
  • Providing specialist formulation, consultation, and guidance to staff.
  • Overseeing assessment, allocation, and coordination of services, including multi agency involvement.
  • Ensuring fidelity to the BTC and Lifelong Links models through supervision, training, and quality assurance.
  • Supporting staff through home visits, case reviews, and reflective practice.
  • Maintaining strong partnerships with Children’s Services, Maternity Health and other agencies.
  • Managing performance, workload, and professional development for up to 8 staff.
  • Contributing to recruitment, service development, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Ensuring safe, effective community practice and adherence to policies and professional standards.
The role requires travel across Birmingham and the ability to work flexibly across home, community, and office settings. You will maintain HCPC (or equivalent) registration, engage in CPD, and keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy

This is an opportunity to lead a highly skilled therapeutic team, influence multi agency safeguarding practice, and make a meaningful difference to young people and families across Birmingham.
About you:
  • You will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, and/or preferably professionally qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. social work, psychology, mental health nursing), and will have significant experience of working behaviourally and/or therapeutically with young people and their families.
  • You will be positive, passionate and committed to making a difference to young people and their families and enjoy the challenge this brings.
  • You will demonstrate an interest in evidence-based practice and research and will be keen to develop your knowledge of BtC and Lifelong Links and therapeutic and intervention skills.
