Museum Services Manager (P00800) Starting salary £41,992pa with progression to £45,089pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service 37 hours per week (rota) We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Museum Manager to drive forward the Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service. This busy service runs two heritage sites; Mill Green Museum and Mill with a working watermill and social history museum and Welwyn Roman Baths, a Scheduled monument, the remains of a 3rd century Anglo/Roman bathing suite, ingeniously preserved under the A1(M) motorway. As Museum Manager you will oversee the day-to-day operations of both sites and work closely with our dedicated team of staff and volunteers to promote and preserve the facilities ensuring a high standard of service, changing exhibitions and an events programme. You will be part of the rota system covering the evening operating hours of the museum. If you have proven Museum Management skills, a flair for community engagement and partnership working, a love of communication and great interpersonal skills then we would like you to join the Museum Service of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Educated to degree level with a desirable postgraduate Museum Studies qualification, you will have at extensive experience of working in an accredited museum, have experience of the Accreditation renewal process and experience in a collections and exhibitions-based role, being able to demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills. A driving license valid in UK and use of a motor vehicle is essential. This post is subject to enhanced DBS check. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post. You will be working across both sites at the delightful Mill Green Museum surrounded by beautiful grounds, and at the amazing Roman Bath House. To be eligible for a place on the scheme at Brent, you must also meet one of the criteria below: •&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Have lived in Brent for at least 2 years; or •&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Have studied (at a secondary or further education establishment, including school, college, PRU) in Brent; or •&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Be a Brent Care leaver; or •&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Have been a Brent Council council employee for more than 1 year.&nbsp; The application process Successful applicants will need to demonstrate their understanding of Impact’s key skills and behaviours through a competitive, multi-stage application process. Local candidates participate in the same process as national candidates but have the advantage of a guaranteed interview with Brent. As part of the application process, you are required to complete a Situational Judgment Test which is the only assessment you will need to complete at this stage. The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) presents you with 24 realistic scenarios that someone might experience in a role on the programme, along with multiple ways of responding. The SJT will appear after you have completed your application question, and you will need to complete the SJT before you can submit your application. Instructions for the test: This test is untimed, and it should be completed in one sitting. You will be taken to the assessment page after answering your application questions. You will need to organise each scenario into the order of response, depending on what you are most appropriate or least appropriate to do for each of the 24 questions.
