This is an exciting opportunity to join the Independent Travel Training Service. Travel trainers support adults and young people with disabilities and/or autism to travel confidently, safely and independently across the borough so they can access school, further education or day care settings.
The post holder will deliver training (1-1 &amp; small groups) and support trainees travelling on public transport. They will work closely with parents, carers and support networks, undertake risk assessments to maintain trainee safety and use effective action planning and assessments to achieve independent travel for their caseload.

Travel trainers support young people and adults to travel safely on public transport independently.&nbsp; You will be working with the trainee and their support network to plan and deliver a bespoke travel training programme. Working peripatetically across the borough, you will manage a caseload of trainees and be responsible for their progression throughout the training.&nbsp; Our programmes develop confidence and skills that enable trainees to tackle journeys independently.&nbsp;
We are looking for skilled, proactive and flexible individuals who will really make a difference to our customers lives, particularly in relation their ability to travel independently. &nbsp;You will offer 1-1 support and small group training to ensure trainees are equipped with all the skills and confidence they need to use a range of transport.&nbsp; You should bring some experience of working with young people and/or adults with special educational needs, learning disabilities and/or autism to the role.
You will need to be flexible in your approach to work. Ancora House School provides education to in-patients admitted to Ancora House, the regional adolescent psychiatric unit in Chester. Our school is also commissioned to provide education in the local community for learners not able to access their mainstream school due to ill health at the school's site in Frodsham.
The opening of a new Day Ward for Eating Disorder patients has created a vacancy for a teaching assistant to work at the hospital site 5 mornings a week and offers a unique experience for the right candidate to develop existing skills and to gain experience of working in the specialist field of adolescent psychology or mental health.
To secure the best possible outcomes for our learners, our outstanding teachers and support staff work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary clinical team that includes doctors, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and speech and language specialists and clinical support staff. Strong communication, planning, and partnership working skills are essential, as is the ability to build trusted relationships with parents and carers. The primary focus will be delivering parenting support to families facing multiple and complex challenges. This is a key role in delivering targeted, coordinated interventions to parents, carers, and families with children and young people aged 0–25.
The targeted interventions will help parents and carers develop the skills and confidence they need to support their children’s wellbeing and development. You will deliver hands-on parenting support and therapeutic interventions using a relationship-based approach, aiming to improve outcomes for the whole family. You will also support parents in managing challenging behaviour and preventing escalation, helping them respond confidently and constructively to complex situations at home.
You will also undertake holistic child exploitation assessments and lead on the development and delivery of outcome-focused family plans. You will work closely with families, professionals, and partner agencies to reduce harms associated with exploitation, crime, and anti-social behaviour. In this role, you will be expected to contribute to safeguarding processes and take the lead in coordinating support, ensuring services are responsive and effective.
A key aspect of the role is working in partnership with the police and other agencies to identify and respond to threats and risks in the community. This includes supporting intelligence gathering, mapping activity, and attending multi-agency forums to ensure timely action and joined-up working.
The role will require flexibility, including the ability to work some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of children and families.
