We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic, confident and reliable to join our Adult Social Care Hub on a full-time, 12-month maternity cover contract. If you are experienced in assessing and supporting manual handling situations and passionate about strengths-based practice, we would love to hear from you. Any successful internal candidate will be offered the position as a secondment and, in line with Section 8.1 of the Secondment Policy, must consult with their manager before applying. About you…

You will work within an established, multi-professional statutory team and will undertake comprehensive assessments of adults with disabilities. Supporting individuals to continue living as independently as possible within their communities will be an integral part of this role.

As a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work with adults with a broad range of needs including people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, older people and people with dementia. Working closely with our voluntary care sector to support individuals to continue living as independently as possible within their communities, will be an integral part of this role.

You will receive regular supervision, attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and hold a varied caseload.

About the team…

You will be part of a supportive, collaborative team based at Time Square, Bracknell, with the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

Although we work in 3 distinct teams, we are one service and we work together closely which leads to good relationships and opportunities for learning from each other. You will gain an invaluable breadth of experience across Adult Social Care and will be supported to develop your knowledge and confidence. Rotational posts across the teams will be considered.

Key responsibilities…

  • Undertake strengths-based assessments with adults with disabilities, identifying needs and promoting independence, choice and control through Care Act compliant and cost-effective support.
  • Responsible for own caseload, working collaboratively with colleagues in the People directorate.
  • To be an autonomous practitioner and accountable for all aspects of your work, including management of individuals in your care and your own supervision and appraisal.
  • To assess for, plan and provide interventions around manual handling, seating, small aids and adaptations.
  • Participate in safeguarding assessments and planning when required.
