Children's Residential Worker

Children's Residential Worker

£29,167 - £30,934 per year

What will you be doing?

Bluebells in Detling offers overnight short breaks for children in Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and also have some additional support needs. These may include health related needs, behaviours of concern, and help with everyday tasks. We support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they, and their families, can have a break.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support. You will need to work with your own initiative as well as with guidance, always ensuring the young peoples needs are at the centre of what you do.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Can follow care plans and keep them under review, updating as needed.
  • Is able to work shift work as part of a rota which includes unsociable hours and some weekends.
  • Is able to create factual reports.
  • Is willing to undertake training and put theory to practice.
  • Can undertake personal care for the children and young people.
  • Has a proactive approach to their own learning.
  • Is able to communicate in an open honest manner
  • Can organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people.
  • Has an awareness of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • Has or is willing to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

In return we can offer you:

  • A detailed induction and training programme, with an ongoing plan for development
  • 29 days annual leave + bank holiday entitlement
  • Generous contributory pension scheme

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process which includes a pre-interview visit.
