Job Introduction

We’re looking for an Intelligence and Analysis Manager to drive the delivery of insight and performance in Children and Families services.

This is an exciting time to join an ambitious team. You’ll help develop reporting and intelligence that supports national reforms such as Families First and Best Start, alongside supporting key transformation and improvement projects. Your work will directly influence how we understand need, measure impact, and improve outcomes for children and families.

You’ll lead a skilled analytical team, shaping how data is turned into meaningful intelligence that supports decision-making at every level—from frontline services to senior leadership and partnership boards.

We support flexible working, with an expectation that the postholder will have a regular office presence, and attend the office as required to support business engagement and service needs.

This role is fixed term for 12 months.

Please note that there is currently an ongoing review within Children and Families to realign individual teams and the wider team’s ways of working. As a result, this role may be affected by the review. For further information, please speak to the hiring manager.

Main Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team delivering analysis, reporting, and insight
  • Oversee the production of performance dashboards and intelligence products (Power BI is our main tool for automated reporting)
  • Ensure delivery of statutory data returns across children's services that are accurate and on time
  • Provide strategic analysis and interpretation to support service improvement and inspection readiness
  • Work closely with senior leaders to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support major transformation programmes, including system and service changes

The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

  • Strong experience in data analysis and performance management
  • Proven ability to lead and develop analytical teams
  • Advanced skills in Power BI, Excel or similar performance analysis tools
  • Experience of designing and producing accurate, user-friendly, GDPR compliant reports, and responding to Freedom of Information Requests.
  • Knowledge of predictive analysis and demand management and how that can be presented and utilised in a public sector environment.
  • Experience of Children’s Services data and statutory returns (or similar complex public sector data)
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insight for senior audiences
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects in a complex environment, taking ownership of your area and applying an innovative, solution-focused approach to problem solving.

If we receive a high volume of applicants, the closing date may close earlier than currently advertised. The first stage of the selection process may also involve an automated video interview where we will send you questions for you to reply to with recorded video answer.

Interviews planned to take place week starting 27 July.

Don’t feel you meet all the requirements? We value transferable skills, experiences, and qualifications so consider applying anyway or for an informal chat about the role please contact Kelly Stark, Intelligence and Analysis Lead at kelly.stark@staffordshire.gov.uk or Jenny Herbert, Improvement, Performance and Engagement Lead, at jenny.herbert@staffordshire.gov.uk

Please note: The minimum essential criteria in the ideal candidate section detailed above will be used if you are applying under one of our Interview Guarantee Schemes, detailed below.
