
Trading Standards Compliance Officer
Are you passionate about protecting residents and visitors from unfair, fraudulent and illegal practices?
If so, we have two exciting opportunities to join our high quality, professional Trading Standards team whose focus is on delivering the most effective service for Staffordshire residents and businesses, whilst embracing intelligence led activity within a matrix working environment.
Our team of dedicated officers, work hard to maintain the integrity of the food chain including animal health and welfare, and to keep people and communities safe and well.

You’ll work across a wide range of criminal law enforcement duties and to provide advice to local businesses in areas such as:
- animal health and welfare
- licensing of activities involving animals
- food standards
- animal feed
- safety of sports grounds
- product safety
- underage sales
- licensing (alcohol, explosives and petroleum)
- fair trading
- intellectual property
- illicit tobacco and vapes
- You will be based in Stafford, and expected to travel efficiently across Staffordshire and have a flexible approach to out-of-hours & weekend working, including out-of-hours rota.
For the purpose of shortlisting, the minimum criteria for this role is:
- Diploma /DCATS in Trading Standards or equivalent
- Wide range of experience in Trading Standards enforcement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to form effective diverse working relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Full current driving license (special arrangements will be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010)

Salary range
- £33,699 - £38,220 per year
