Planning Officer – £36,899 to £40,789 (including Market Supplement of £3,226)

Senior Planning Officer – £41,908 to £46,468 (including Market Supplement of £4,345)

Are you looking to develop your experience in a range of urban and rural planning issues? This is a Career Graded role that goes up to Senior Planning Officer level that will enable you to develop your skills and experience, allowing you to progress in your role with us in our friendly and proactive Development Management Section. We are currently looking to recruit across the planning team from Graduate to Senior Officer level.

You would be actively involved in a range of housing and employment sites as well as the exciting regeneration of Rugby Town Centre. There is also plenty of diversity in the workload not only through the major schemes that you will be dealing if at a senior level, but proposals within the other key features of our Borough including the rolling Warwickshire countryside, much of which is Green Belt, and significant heritage and cultural work preserving the birthplace of the game of Rugby.

Depending on your knowledge and experience, your main responsibilities will be the processing of a range of planning applications and associated consents, including providing pre-application advice on proposed applications, assessing, preparing and presenting reports on planning applications, attending Planning Committee and representing the Council in any appeals.

Explaining every step of the planning process to our customers is vital to our success, and your achievements will be based not only on your ability to do your job but also on putting customer service at the heart of everything you do.

About you

You will need to have a professional qualification such as in Town Planning Degree or similar qualification (or be close to achieving such a qualification), but for the Graduate post we will consider funding further studies to enable you to obtain a Town Planning qualification.

Knowledge of the current planning legislation with relevant experience of planning work either in a local authority or private practice in the UK is critical for the Senior or Planning Officer roles, as well as possessing excellent communication and advisory skills.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is essential.
