All about the Role

An exciting new role created to lead Peterborough City Council's input into supporting and growing the Visitor Economy and Tourism.
Working closely with the Tourist Board, and other key partners to further develop Discover Peterborough and to work with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, as a member of the Local Visitor Economy Partnership.
This will be an externally focused role and also require working across the whole directorate and in partnership with the wider Council, as well as the University, local businesses, Business Improvement District Team at Peterborough Positive and the newly formed Peterborough City Centre Growth Board.

It is anticipated that the team will require building up as the role grows and our involvement in promoting the visitor economy and tourism expands.
The Visitor Economy and Tourism service sits alongside the other services in the Growth and Regeneration service directorate and is part of the wider Place and Economy directorate.

All about You

A great communicator and leader who can bring together multiple agencies and construct strategies and programmes of work that attract both public and private investment. A professional used to working in a political environment, skilled at marketing, organising events, bidding for and negotiating funding deals. This role will provide you with many opportunities to make a difference to the future of Peterborough. Ideally you will have an extensive knowledge of Peterborough, its history and life in the city today, along with a passion for improving the future of the city and encouraging people to visit us.

Essential qualifications

  • A relevant graduate level qualification or equivalent and/or relevant compensating experience at a senior leadership level.
