The High Peak South Adult Social Work Long Term Team are based in Buxton and we are seeking to recruit an experienced full time Social Worker to join our friendly community-based team of Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners. The successful candidate will be expected to work their 37 hrs Monday to Friday each week. The team are highly supportive and operates on a largely agile, flexible basis across High Peak area of Derbyshire, utilising link worker and champion roles to carry out Care Act (2014) face-to-face and telephone assessments and reviews. The right applicant will need to evidence high levels of autonomy and accountability with timely recording of interventions to progress overall case management. Applicants must ensure they can demonstrate the skills to build positive, professional links with others to work closely with our partner agencies, such as Health, Police, Housing and PVI sectors. The ability to identify signposting opportunities is necessary to support carers, maximise independence and individual wellbeing with a focus on promoting person-centred, strength-based outcomes. At times the role requires Duty cover, it is necessary to be able to respond to changing situations, to effectively triage and assess incoming work to support Adults and their carers - who may require a more urgent response. It is vital to be able to evidence experience and skills to manage a complex caseload whilst meeting your statutory duties in a safe, accountable and cost-effective manner to meet Care Act (2014) eligible needs alongside local authority statutory duties of care. It is an advantage to have experience of taking the lead on Section 42 Safeguarding, chairing multi agency meetings, such as Multi-Agency Adult Risk Management (MARM) and completing Mental Capacity Act (2005) assessments, including Best Interest meetings, COP-DOLs and court work – though support, training and experience will be available for the right candidate if you wish to develop your skills in these areas. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Planner to join us on a part time basis, working 22.5 hours per week.
Our track record in planning and development has delivered a progressive approach to growth and economic investment, balanced with preserving the heritage and natural quality of the Borough. We are currently experiencing significant interest in investment across the Borough which is resulting in a range of planning applications for new housing, commercial and employment development.
The Role:&nbsp;
As a Senior Planning Officer you will have the opportunity to become involved in varied and challenging casework focusing on larger housing and commercial applications, as well as providing support and advice to both colleagues in other departments and Elected Members to deliver the Council’s priorities. You will also be required to provide excellent pre-application advice to applicants, developers and architects.
Ideally you will have experience of not only managing a casework of challenging planning applications, but have also been involved in negotiating s106 agreements and presenting at Committees.&nbsp; Experience of hearings and public inquiry appeal work is also preferable.
The Council receives a broad variety of proposals across the Borough, with wide ranging opportunities for development, along with many high-level constraints providing interesting challenges for decision making.

What we are looking for:
You should possess enthusiasm, be well motivated and have excellent communication skills. You should possess a relevant degree and an RTPI accredited Post Graduate Degree in Planning. Eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would also be desirable.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of experience as a Planner working within a busy Development Management environment, have a high degree of autonomy, independently managing your own workload whilst positively engaging with the wider team and Borough Councillors.
Experience of acting as a witness at public inquiry would also be desirable.
