About the role

Join Our Team: Coroner Service Administrator Opportunities

We are looking to appoint a dedicated Administrator to the Coroners Service. If you are organised, efficient, and committed to supporting your community during sensitive times, we encourage you to apply.

As a Coroner Service Administrator, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of the Coroner’s office, providing essential administrative support for inquests and related proceedings. This position is ideal for individuals who combine strong organisational skills with empathy, assisting the Coroner, Coroner’s officers, and bereaved families.

We seek candidates who consistently deliver high standards of customer service, offer compassionate support to families, and collaborate effectively with external agencies. professionalism, reliability, and a respectful approach are vital for success in this role.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining accurate and confidential records and case files.
  • Processing referrals and incoming correspondence, including email, telephone and postal enquiries.
  • Supporting the preparation and administration of inquests and court hearings.
  • Undertaking court usher duties, welcoming attendees and assisting with hearing arrangements.
  • Liaising with bereaved families, legal representatives, healthcare organisations, funeral directors and other partner agencies.
  • Managing diaries, arranging meetings and booking hearing venues.
  • Monitoring and recording reports and documentation received from external organisations.
  • Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Coroners Service.

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Can manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office applications and other digital systems.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Communicates clearly and compassionately with a wide range of people.
  • Is comfortable dealing with sensitive and sometimes distressing situations.
  • Works well independently whilst also contributing positively to a team environment.
