Job Introduction

Join us at the heart of local leadership

We're looking for a proactive, highly organised and people-focused Support Officer to join the Mayor's Office at the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of a new and ambitious organisation, supporting the Mayor in delivering priorities that make a real difference to residents, businesses and communities across Greater Lincolnshire.

No two days will be the same. You'll play a key role in coordinating the Mayor's diary and engagements, supporting casework, preparing briefings, and helping ensure the smooth running of a busy and high-profile office. Working closely with colleagues across the Authority, you'll help connect people, ideas and opportunities that contribute to the region's success.

Based in Lincoln, this role is primarily office-based, reflecting the collaborative nature of the Mayor's Office. Occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire will also be required.

Mayor’s Office Support Officer

Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (GLCCA)

Working Pattern: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Salary: £32,597–£35,412 (pay award pending)

Location: Lincoln (on-site 5 days a week)

Closing date: 22nd July 2026

Interviews; 4th and 5th August 2026.

About the role

As a Mayor's Office Support Officer, you'll be a trusted source of support for the Mayor and the wider Mayor's Office team. You'll help manage competing priorities, maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and residents, and ensure enquiries and casework are handled professionally and efficiently.

You'll work within a small, supportive team consisting of two Support Officers and a Team Manager, collaborating closely with communications colleagues and the Corporate Leadership Team.

This is a politically sensitive post.

What you'll be doing

  • Acting as the first point of contact for the Mayor, helping to manage a busy and varied diary and ensuring priorities are effectively coordinated.
  • Organising meetings, events and visits, creating positive experiences for stakeholders and partners.
  • Preparing briefings, reports and correspondence that support informed decision-making and successful engagement.
  • Managing sensitive and confidential information with discretion, professionalism and sound judgement.
  • Supporting the handling of enquiries and casework from residents, businesses and stakeholders.
  • Building positive relationships with internal and external partners as a representative of the Mayor's Office.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Authority to ensure a coordinated and responsive service.
  • Supporting communications activity, including gathering content and identifying opportunities to showcase the Mayor's work.
  • Maintaining accurate records within casework management systems and monitoring progress to ensure timely responses and outcomes.

About you

We're looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You'll be confident managing a range of priorities, communicating with people at all levels and delivering excellent customer service. You'll understand the importance of confidentiality, attention to detail and building strong working relationships.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in an administrative, executive support, secretarial or casework role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
  • An understanding of local government, public services or the political environment would be advantageous.
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience.

Why join us?

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly established organisation at an exciting stage of its development.

You'll join a passionate and supportive team committed to improving outcomes for residents, businesses and communities across Greater Lincolnshire. Your work will have visibility, variety and purpose, offering the chance to make a genuine contribution to the future of the area.

If you're looking for a role where you can make an impact, work with a wide range of people and play a key part in supporting local leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
