Are you a dynamic and experienced leader passionate about improving outcomes for children and families? Tower Hamlets is seeking a visionary Group Manager to lead our Children with Disabilities Service within the Children and Culture Directorate.

About the Role

As Group Manager, you will oversee borough-wide integrated services, working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality social care. You’ll lead strategic initiatives, manage complex statutory cases, and drive improvements aligned with our Children’s Social Care Improvement Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assessment teams, ensuring effective supervision, performance management, and service delivery.
  • Champion workforce development, staff retention, and career progression.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance frameworks and data-driven decision-making.
  • Build strong partnerships across education, health, police, probation, and voluntary sectors.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and contribute to service redesign and crisis management planning

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified experienced social work manager
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualifying experience in statutory Children’s Social Care as a front-line manager
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and delivering high-impact services.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, safeguarding, and best practice frameworks.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments and with disadvantaged communities.
  • Commitment to the TOWER values: Together, Open, Willing, Excellent, Respect and Supporting families framework
