What is the job role?

Evening Cleaner in Charge – Required 1st September 2026

Sowe Valley Primary School is seeking a reliable, hardworking and proactive Evening School Cleaner in Charge to join our dedicated team.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our evening cleaning team and play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors. You will take pride in ensuring that classrooms, communal areas and facilities are cleaned to a high standard, helping to create a positive environment where children can belong, believe and become the very best version of themselves.

Working as part of our friendly site team, you will undertake cleaning duties whilst overseeing the work of the evening cleaning team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are consistently maintained. You will be responsible for allocating tasks, monitoring cleaning standards, reporting maintenance or health and safety concerns and ensuring cleaning materials and equipment are used safely and appropriately in accordance with school procedures.

What We Can Offer

  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and professional development
  • A positive and respectful working environment
  • The opportunity to make a valued contribution to our school community

Completed applications should be returned to admin@sowevalley.coventry.sch.uk

Closing Date: 9 am, Thursday 16th June 2026

Who are we looking for?

Need help completing your application form? The Job Shop can support you. You can email them at jobshopemploymentsupport@coventry.gov.uk or visit the Job Shop in person; please see their webpage for more information.

Our workforce data shows that men and people from minority ethnic backgrounds are under-represented; we encourage applicants from these backgrounds to apply. This does not prevent individuals with or without other protected characteristics as set out within the Equality Act 2010 from applying for this post.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS, all relevant safeguarding and pre-employment clearances, and the receipt of two satisfactory references.

Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
