Job Introduction

The Linden Centre is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, inspirational and innovative Teachers to join our team of specialist staff.

We currently have two vacancies for Secondary Teachers, with a preference for candidates with experience teaching either English or Maths, although applications from teachers of other subject specialisms are also welcomed within our SEMH setting. These posts are offered on a 1-year contract in the first instance.

Our team supports children and young people in KS3 and KS4 who present with social, emotional and mental health needs and challenging behaviours which can prevent them from engaging successfully in learning.

The successful candidates will be passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners and committed to supporting both children and families through high-quality teaching, nurture and positive relationships. Teachers will deliver engaging and adaptive lessons to small groups of learners, assess progress and barriers to learning, and contribute to personalised interventions and therapeutic approaches that support both academic achievement and social/emotional development.

Experience of working within educational settings is essential. Experience of teaching English or Maths, working within an SEMH environment and managing challenging behaviour is highly desirable, although not essential for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Confident ability to teach small classes of secondary-aged pupils within their subject specialism.
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet the diverse social, emotional and learning needs of pupils.
• Evidence of commitment to continued professional and personal development.
• Understanding of the issues relating to achievement, engagement and inclusion for vulnerable learners.
• A working knowledge of policies and practice relating to SEND, SEMH and safeguarding.
• Understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, families and external professionals, both orally and in writing.
• High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well to people from a variety of social, cultural, educational, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, assessments and reports.
• Excellent ICT skills.
• Ability to use initiative and work independently when required.
• Self-directed and well organised with the ability to effectively manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work constructively as part of a team and establish productive working relationships with others.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.
