About the role

An exciting new role at North Northamptonshire Council within the Housing Solutions Service, the Safeguarding Lead will be the Council’s Housing safeguarding expert and our single point of contact for complex safeguarding matters, ensuring that safeguarding practises are embedded into day-to-day service delivery. This includes leading teams to coordinate appropriate support and risk management planning for those accessing services within Housing Solutions.

The role will contribute to tenancy sustainment, prevention of homelessness and rough sleeping by ensuring that vulnerable people with complex needs are appropriately assessed and supported through joined up and proactive multi-agency sup

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for a safeguarding lead to support homelessness prevention, tenancy sustainment and rough sleeping services. You’ll provide expert advice, deliver training, and develop staff to embed strong safeguarding practice across the team. The role includes chairing multi‑agency meetings, and ensuring robust case recording and data quality.

You’ll build effective partnerships, develop protocols with key partner agencies, and represent Housing at the Northamptonshire Adults Safeguarding Board. You will also monitor performance, analyse data, and contribute to improving policies, procedures, and service delivery to ensure vulnerable people receive the best possible support.

About you

You will bring strong safeguarding knowledge, with experience supporting vulnerable people facing homelessness, complex needs or multiple disadvantages. The post holder will be confident in leading others, provide training and coaching to colleagues to deliver safe, effective and person‑centred practice.

We are looking for someone highly skilled at building partnerships, chairing multi‑agency meetings and navigating challenging or high‑risk situations with confidence and professionalism. The successful candidate will need to be highly organised and manage accurate records, analyse data and contribute to continuous service improvement. Most importantly you must be proactive, collaborative and passionate about making a positive difference for those most at risk.
