As an Independent Remuneration Panel member, you will make recommendations to Bracknell Forest Council relating to allowances. The aim of your role as a volunteer is to ensure that public funds are utilised efficiently, whilst ensuring Councillors are fairly reimbursed for their responsibilities.
<h3>About the team...</h3>
The Independent Remuneration Panel consists of five members who review the allowance schemes at Bracknell Forest Council. The chair will lead the panel through each review. Bracknell Forest Council will provide administrative support to research and collate information required to support the work.
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>
Each review you will be expected to:

<li>Consider and make recommendations on allowances within Bracknell Forest Council.</li>
<li>Attend two one-day meetings per review.</li>
<li>Read and understand the information on how the authority operates and the roles and responsibilities of councillors as provided by the authority.</li>
<li>Read papers and reports, giving careful consideration to evidence and information provided at meetings by officers and ask questions on this evidence.</li>
<li>Attend virtual interview sessions which will be organised based on the availability of panel members and interviewees. The report of the Independent Remuneration Panel’s recommendations will be prepared by the chair.</li>

Are you looking for an exciting development opportunity in the Council in the Flood Risk Management Team?&nbsp;You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of disciplines including; highways, planning, environmental and emergency planning disciplines and with various external partners.Our Flood Risk service has a proven track record and is nationally recognised for its work and excellent achievement of delivering priorities including the provision of a flood risk management service to a number of neighbouring Lead Local Flood Authorities.We are a Lead Local Flood Authority and provide a number of flood-related functions including providing statutory responses to planning applications, undertaking flood investigations, land drainage consents and scheme/project delivery. We act as the lead and co-ordinating body to reduce flood risk to residents and businesses within Staffordshire.&nbsp;This role is largely about undertaking flood investigations under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and undertaking our duties and powers under the Land Drainage Act 1991.Main Responsibilities In this role you will:&nbsp;<ul>
<li>Investigate land drainage and flooding enquiries from the public, Parish and District Councils, County Councillors, the Environment Agency, Water Companies, neighbouring Lead Local Flood Authorities and other relevant organisations.
</li>
<li>
Understand and provide advice about riverside and land ownership to communities and members of the public</li>
<li>Support in the production of plans using GIS, supporting in the production of asset management plans and proposing small-scale solutions to flooding problems &nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Support the effective regulation of ordinary watercourses through appropriate engagement and negotiation with land owners and where necessary instigate enforcement actions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>During a flood emergency, you may also be required to take part in major incident response.</li>
</ul>The Ideal Candidate 
You will have experience of the day to day delivery of flood risk services and working with other partner organisations and highway services to promote joined up and efficient flood risk management, together with:

<li>Knowledge and understanding of the administrative, statutory and legal procedures relating to highway, planning, land drainage and flood risk management</li>
<li>Experience and use of drainage and flood risk mapping&nbsp;</li>
<li>Good knowledge of policies &amp; design standards in relation to flood risk management and drainage systems.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience working with Local Authorities, Environment Agency, Water Companies; handling public queries; engaging with general public, landowners, Council members.</li>
