We’re looking for a&nbsp;Senior Lawyer (Contracts and Commercial) to join our busy legal team. This is an exciting role that will focusing on Contracts and Commercial, providing forward thinking, customer focused and professional legal advice, support and assistance to the Council, Senior Leaders, Members and Partners. This role will be to support the success of large-scale regeneration activity and economic growth ambitions for Wirral.
As a qualified and practising barrister, solicitor or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, you will take responsibility for the conduct of contractual matters, drafting, litigation or proceedings arising from the duties and functions for your specialist area.
About the Role:
The post holder will manage all litigation in relation to contracts and commercial to ensure the Council’s interests are safeguarded. A key requirement will also be to provide high quality, constructive legal and constitutional advice and assistance to Council, Cabinet, Council committees/panels, members and senior management.
About the Candidate:
The ideal Senior Lawyer candidate will be proactive and self-motivated, having excellent technical skills and a good level of experience in dealing with property matters.
You will also have great communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to deliver complex advice clearly and be able to communicate effectively with people internally, and externally.
Local government legal work is varied and whilst at times it can be challenging, it is also very rewarding. There will be times when you need to work under pressure and balance conflicting priorities, however, you will be supported in doing this. You will also be supported to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development and a willingness to undertake training and develop new skills as required.

Technical VAT &amp; Taxation Officer
About the Role: 
An exciting and challenging opportunity has been created to join the Finance Service at Wirral Council. We are looking for a Technical VAT and Taxation Officer to join and support the Corporate Finance Team.
As a key member of the Accountancy team, your primary purpose will be to support the Senior Finance Manager to effectively implement and manage the Council’s VAT liability in addition to advising departments, elected members and stakeholders on other taxation i.e. Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT), in consultation with our appointed taxation advisors. You will play a key role in ensuring the Council’s VAT liability is managed, evaluated and monitored ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation.
Working with the Senior Finance Manager you will also help to ensure that the Council complies with all necessary VAT and associated taxation reporting requirements.
About the candidate:
You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed individual, who is able to demonstrate a working knowledge of this area, whilst also possessing excellent communication skills.
This is a challenging position and will require strong financial analysis skills and input into reporting for various stakeholders. Candidates will preferably have experience in a local government finance environment.&nbsp;

The Governors of wish to appoint an EYS Teaching Assistant who is suitably qualified and experienced in early years and early language development to support the learning of a child with complex and significant special educational needs in Y1.
Do you:

<li>Have experience of working with children with SEND needs?</li>
<li>Have recent training and experience using Makaton and symbolic communication programmes?</li>
<li>Possess the ability to be flexible and adapt activities?</li>
<li>Have experience and a willingness to support the child with her personal care and hygiene?</li>
<li>Have experience of delivering bespoke speech and language programmes (with support from the Knowsley SALT team) to support and develop the child’s social communication?</li>
<li>Have recent experience of supporting a child with sensory activities and experience of delivering sensory circuits?</li>
<li>Have experience of sensory and explorative play?</li>
<li>Have recent experience in working in EYS or pre-school settings?</li>
<li>Currently possess a First Aid qualifications?</li>
<li>Possess a warm and welcoming personality?</li>
<li>Have high level interpersonal, organisational and presentation skills?</li>
<li>Have the willingness to support the continued development of this happy and successful school?</li>
<li>Have a cheerful and friendly disposition?</li>
<li>Recent attendance to a Team Teach course on positive handling (or equivalent)</li>
