About the Service and Team

The Audit, Governance and Standards Committee of the Royal Borough of Kingston currently has a vacancy for an Independent Member who either lives within the Borough or close to it.

About the Role and Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with the necessary skills, enthusiasm and commitment to be a member of the Committee and to bring an external perspective to its work.

The purpose of the Committee is to provide independent assurance of the effectiveness of:

• the governance arrangements of the Authority, including standards of conduct
• the Authority’s risk management framework
• the Authority’s annual statement of accounts and internal control and audit systems

Applicants will have experience either within a financial or audit background, or of wider corporate governance issues more generally.

The Committee normally meets four times a year at 7.30pm in the Guildhall, Kingston upon Thames.

This role is not open to current Members or employees of the Royal Borough or who have served/been employed in either of those capacities within the last five years.

Applicants must not have a background of political activity or campaigning which may reasonably call into question the perception of their independence.

An allowance of £643.79 per annum is payable for the role.
