Our 6 Community Hospitals and 3 Community Support Beds offer short-term assessment and reablement/ rehabilitation to people across Derbyshire. The services are going through an exciting period of change over 2025-2026. We’re looking for an innovative leader who is passionate about improving services for people in Derbyshire. As part of improving integration between health and social care, we are transitioning the service to deliver support within a new partnership between Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS and we expect these roles transition across into this Partnership at some point in 2026. South Derbyshire District Council has a housing stock of circa 3000 properties of which a third are currently designated as sheltered. The Independent Living Service provides help and assistance around the clock, 365 days of the year to customers who live independently in their own homes. The Independent living service is in essence two teams. At the Careline Control Centre a team of experienced operators provide a 24-hour monitoring and emergency call service for vulnerable adults who live within the district. This team works closely with the Careline Support Co-ordinators Team who provide a regular routine visiting service and a 24-hour emergency response service throughout the district. We are currently looking to develop the service and wish to appoint a part time Sheltered Housing Support Officer who will have the commitment and flexibility to ensure this valuable service is delivered to the high standards our customers expect and deserve. As a Sheltered Housing Support Officer, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours per week providing cover for members of either the Careline or Careline Support Co-ordinator teams. Due to the nature of the service, you may be required to work nights, weekends and other unsociable hours. About the Role
As Property Officer at Erewash Borough Council, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the planned and reactive maintenance for the Council’s property assets - driving innovation, sustainability, and value during this exciting period of change.
What You Will Do
As the Property Officer you will help maintain and improve the Council’s buildings by planning, delivering and reviewing both planned and reactive maintenance programmes. This includes preparing specifications and tender documents, procuring contractors, managing budgets and ensuring all works comply with building regulations and legislation. You will also carry out building condition inspections, monitor contractor performance and update maintenance plans to ensure assets remain safe, well-maintained and cost-effective.
A key part of the role is ensuring strong health and safety compliance, including areas such as Working at Height, Asbestos, Legionella and CDM Regulations. You will also support colleagues in Engineering, Building Compliance and Corporate Health &amp; Safety, helping keep the Council’s buildings safe, compliant and fit for public use.
The role also involves making informed decisions about how maintenance and repair work is prioritised, ensuring buildings remain safe and in good condition. You will check the quality of contractor work, recommend repair actions and confirm when work meets the required standards. Strong financial responsibility is essential, as you will manage budgets, monitor spending, and certify contractor payments in line with contract requirements.
In addition, you will work closely with a range of internal teams and external partners. This includes collaborating with contractors, colleagues across the Council and specialist services to support sustainability, energy efficiency and the effective delivery of building projects.

About You
You will have:

<li>Experience managing building maintenance programmes, undertaking building inspections, and managing contracted building repairs.</li>
<li>A degree in surveying or HNC/HND level qualification in a building construction related field.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of construction, building pathology, procurement, Health &amp; Safety legislation, and the ability to use IT software including Microsoft Office packages.</li>
<li>Knowledge of legislation affecting building operations e.g. British Standards, Approved Codes of Practice, Building and Planning Regulations.</li>
<li>A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.</li>
