We are currently recruiting for a Senior Valuation &amp; Asset Management Surveyor, a Chartered Surveyor with 5 years post qualification to manage activities within a valuation &amp; asset management team including being responsible for day-to-day service delivery decisions to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service. Managing the Council's property assets to maximise the value and utilisation of the portfolio. Liaise with stakeholders in a way that promotes the One Medway Council Plan and embeds our values and behaviours. Accountabilities and outcomes: • Undertake the review, acquisition, letting and disposal of land and property, including preparation of valuations, negotiating and making recommendations, seeking approvals from Cabinet and Full Council as required in order to meet the council's and its partner’s strategic and operational, regeneration and investment/financial requirements. • Undertake statutory annual asset valuations and help oversee the process to adhere to statutory financial reporting and deadlines. This will include negotiation of easements, wayleaves and covenants to ensure the best possible outcome for the authority and instigating and negotiating purchases, disposals, lettings and/or compensation settlements to ensure best value for money in accordance with service requirements. • Review and consider tenants alterations or assignment or subletting requests, progressing to conclusion and ensuring that the council’s property is managed in accordance with all relevant requirements and good estate management practice. • Identify and select relevant professional advisors, procurement, appointment including detailed instructions, such appointment may it be lawyers, project managers, EPC assessors or other agents. This is an exciting time to join our dynamic building maintenance team within Property Services, providing technical and advisory guidance to clients, stakeholders and the wider Facilities team. The building surveyor role requires a hands-on approach for reactive maintenance in all weather conditions and coordinating/managing planned maintenance and capital projects ensuring adherence to programmes within allocated budgets.
The attached job profile gives the full scope of the role, but here are some of the main responsibilities:

<li>A proactive hands-on approach to site inspections and defect analysis, understanding when Health and Safety is priority and timely repairs of defects.</li>
<li>Preparing specifications, drawings and tender documentation for general maintenance, improvement works, refurbishments and new building schemes including adherence to the procurement process and evaluation of tender submissions.</li>
<li>Project management duties including liaising with contractors, specialists and stakeholders, whilst managing and co-ordinating delivery of projects including contract administration and quality control on site.</li>
<li>Undertake surveys in relation to condition and building surveying, analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports.</li>
<li>Experience with planning and building regulation applications, conservation and working with other specialist professionals/consultants.</li>

About the role
In this role, you will oversee the implementation, management, and delivery of all electrical, fire detection, door entry, lift, CCTV, and digital TV installations with the Council’s supply partners. Responsibilities include repair, maintenance, and major projects for both existing and new Council housing installations.
About you
You will oversee projects from start to completion with minimal supervision, including budget management, preparing specifications and drawings, contract procurement, and supervising electrical works for the Council’s housing stock.
A degree in Building Surveying or equivalent work experience in a similar role is preferred with i.e. HNC/HND in Building Surveying/Construction or relevant Electrical qualification. Strong working knowledge of building defects and solutions is also required.&nbsp; Knowledge of housing legislation, best practices for repairs and maintenance, CDM, and Building Regulations is essential.
