We are creating an opportunity for people to join our Place Protection team, working with a variety of council service areas, to help improve the feelings of safety within our community and to ensure compliance is monitored and maintained. This involves engagement with members of the public, partners, and other services, as part of a high profiled uniformed patrol.

Early intervention and engagement are required in certain situations, in addition to the use of delegated powers.

The officers will need to adhere to local policies and legal guidance, to gather, handle and prepare evidence for certain offences, by obtaining photographs, compiling witness statements, conducting interviews, including interviews under caution. Where appropriate to prepare for and/or attend court. Liaising with both internal colleagues and external partners such as the Police, housing associations, other government bodies etc, is also required.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service background. They must be friendly, enthusiastic, hardworking and a team player, to provide a high-quality service in a flexible manner. Being able to take responsibility of their own workload is essential in addition to good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills. Full training, (including CSAS Accreditation), uniform and equipment is provided.

Applicants will need to clear the Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2, undertaken by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, prior to employment commencing. They must also hold a full UK driving licence.
