Main Responsibilities
You will:
<ul>
<li>Lead on the delivery of the statutory responsibilities of the Authority relating to children’s safeguarding (in the broadest sense) under the Children and Families Act 2017 and it’s contextual framework through Working Together 2015 and other relevant legislation e.g. Education Act 1996, Children Act 1989, Adoption &amp; Children Act 2006 etc</li>
<li>Provide the highest level of professional leadership, motivation and direction to a team of qualified social workers, family practitioners.</li>
<li>Lead a team of practitioners and manage the day to day practice and the safe allocation of work and to ensure these are progressed in accordance with the statutory frameworks.</li>
<li>Ensure that effective professional practice and supervision is delivered throughout the team following the principles of the knowledge and skills statements for social workers and in adherence with Children and Social Work Act 2017</li>
<li>Identify and embed service improvements through audits, quality assurance, identifying training, benchmarking and the interpretation and dissemination of legislation</li>
</ul>
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
<ul>
<li>a professional social work qualification</li>
<li>an additional professional qualification in a related area or evidence which can demonstrate skills, knowledge and ability e.g. Practice Educator</li>
<li>experience of working at a senior level within a local authority</li>
<li>knowledge of managing social workers and others within a single or multi-professional team</li>
<li>experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a partnership environment.</li>

As a Family Time Worker, you’ll play a critical role in supporting children in understanding their birth identity and supervising their time with birth parents.&nbsp;We’re looking for people to join us with the skills to encourage and help maintain positive relationships between children and parents. We work with very vulnerable children so we must ensure we maintain professional relationships whilst managing complex family needs and behaviours.Our Family Time Workers play a vital role in supporting families for them to spend quality time together. Our aim during family time is to promote a positive and meaningful time for children with their family. This could include offering support, guidance, and parenting advice or modelling positive interaction and behaviours. &nbsp;We also support children getting to and from school and family time in various locations. Our family time workers are required to transport the children around the county and further afield.Flexibility is required as some family times involve working outside of standard working hours, including evenings.&nbsp;Main Responsibilities You will be required:<ul>
<li>To facilitate therapeutic family time between children and their parents or other family members.</li>
<li>To coordinate arrangements for family time for children and their parents or other family members as directed by court.</li>
<li>Transport children and young people to attend family time.</li>
<li>To provide parenting support and guidance during family time.</li>
<li>To support the completion of accurate documentation, reports, and records in relation to children, young people, and families.</li>
<li>To be available outside of traditional working patterns including evenings and weekends to provide support to children, families, and carers when it is needed.</li>
</ul>The Ideal Candidate As well as a passion for helping and supporting children and their families, you’ll need to have:<ul>
<li>A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families.</li>
<li>Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.</li>
<li>Experience in the use of IT including Microsoft packages</li>
<li>An understanding of child development and the effect of stress and trauma on child development.</li>
<li>An understanding of the key pieces of policies, guidance, and legislation which govern children’s social care.</li>
<li>Have unrestricted use of a car and a driving licence.</li>
<li>Be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed.</li>
<li>The ability to effectively communicate with children, their families, and carers.</li>
<li>The ability to build relationships and deliver interventions to children, families, and carers.</li>

Family Time Worker

We have 4 Children’s Disability teams across the county, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities.These are small teams of highly dedicated Social Workers that support children and families to reach the best outcomes in a timely manner, enabling them to live their lives to the full. We also are supported by a team of skilled Family Practitioners who assist in facilitating behaviour management work and undertaking direct work.Our Social Workers make a huge difference to the lives of people across our County.
