The Role:&nbsp;
As a Senior Planning Officer you will have the opportunity to become involved in varied and challenging casework focusing on larger housing and commercial applications, as well as providing support and advice to both colleagues in other departments and Elected Members to deliver the Council’s priorities. You will also be required to provide excellent pre-application advice to applicants, developers and architects.
Ideally you will have experience of not only managing a casework of challenging planning applications, but have also been involved in negotiating s106 agreements and presenting at Committees.&nbsp; Experience of hearings and public inquiry appeal work is also preferable.
The Council receives a broad variety of proposals across the Borough, with wide ranging opportunities for development, along with many high-level constraints providing interesting challenges for decision making.

What we are looking for:
You should possess enthusiasm, be well motivated and have excellent communication skills. You should possess a relevant degree and an RTPI accredited Post Graduate Degree in Planning. Eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would also be desirable.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of experience as a Planner working within a busy Development Management environment, have a high degree of autonomy, independently managing your own workload whilst positively engaging with the wider team and Borough Councillors.
Experience of acting as a witness at public inquiry would also be desirable.

As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you’ll be on the frontline of this vital work working with the Senior Private Sector Housing in the enforcement of housing standards through formal action as necessary in line with Housing legislation.

We’re looking for a committed and customer focused individual to join our Private Sector Housing team. You’ll be based at our Sevenoaks offices, but often out and about across the District – working with residents in their homes, liaising with contractors, and helping to ensure housing standards are upheld.
You'll be appointed at Band C (£29,330 – £31,773), with the opportunity to progress to Band D (£34,072 - £36,830) in your second year of employment, subject to gaining sufficient experience and demonstrating the required level of competence.
What you will be doing:
<ul>
<li>Assessing housing conditions, identifying hazards, and specifying works to improve standards.</li>
<li>Investigating housing complaints and, where necessary, supporting enforcement action to ensure housing is safe and compliant.</li>
<li>Inspecting and licensing HMOs in connection with mandatory HMO licencing schemes and undertake annual inspections of all licensed HMOs.</li>
<li>Carry out regular inspections of mobile park homes and park home sites in accordance with the relevant legislation and model standards.</li>
<li>Carry out the effective day to day management and maintenance of the Council owned Hever Road Gypsy and Traveller site and its facilities.</li>

You will support children in care aged 16+ whilst you prepare them for transition to a personal advisor at 18 and into independence.As a senior practitioner in our 16 plus Care Leavers Service you will support the team manager within the team and provide high quality case advice and guidance to colleagues focusing on the wellbeing of children in care and care experienced young people and supporting them on their journey to independence. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the learning and development of others either through acting as a Practice Assessor for students on placement, or contributing to training activities in a specialist area. You will be able to demonstrate expert and effective practice that reflects a commitment to relationship and strengths-based practice, assessing and managing higher levels of risk, including contextual harm, and working collaboratively with children, young people and their families and carers.
