We are seeking an experienced Licensing Team Manager to lead a key area of our Property Licensing Service. You will manage staff, oversee operational delivery, and ensure regulatory requirements are applied consistently across the borough. Working closely with the Senior Management Team, you will help shape service priorities, improve systems and deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service that makes a real difference to residents' lives in Hackney.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with significant experience in property licensing and team management, although candidates with equivalent professional qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered. They will have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, and excellent communication skills, enabling them to engage effectively with residents, colleagues, councillors, and external stakeholders. Experience of enforcement actions, tribunal processes, appeals, and using Metastreet software would be desirable.

As a Senior Public Health Specialist, you will work within a team of highly motivated public health staff, supporting the Director of Public Health to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Hackney and the City of London. As part of our’whole system’ approach to tackling obesity, this fixed term role will lead the co-development, implementation and evaluation of a pilot programme of work to build workforce and community capacity to promote healthy weight. This will involve:
- Strengthening healthy weight competence and confidence among frontline staff and volunteers who support individuals at high risk of obesity, in various service and community settings
- improving awareness of, and access to, information about actions individuals can take to achieve and maintain a healthy weight
- Developing and implementing a plan to address and reduce weight stigma across Hackney and the City.
While based within a central team, the responsibilities of the role will be delivered through collaboration with colleagues across the two local authorities, health and voluntary sector partners, as well as directly with communities.
You will be educated to degree level and have significant public health knowledge and skills, acquired through training, experience or formal study. You will have a knowledge of the causes of ill health and inequalities, combined with a knowledge of public health principles and methodologies.

The role This role supports children and young people to develop positive attitudes to sport and physical activity. As a Junior Sports Coach, you’ll act as a positive role model, inspiring and motivating young people through safe, engaging and inclusive coaching sessions. You’ll plan and deliver sessions primarily in Camden primary schools, adapting activities to suit different age groups and abilities. You’ll help create a welcoming environment, support skill development, and encourage participation, while ensuring equipment is used safely and records are maintained accurately. You’ll be part of the wider Sport and Physical Activity Team, contributing to training, meetings and service-wide activities, and working closely with schools and community partners. About you You’ll hold a minimum Level 1 sports coaching qualification (or equivalent) and be keen to continue developing your coaching skills. You’ll have experience working with children and young people, ideally across football and multi-sport activities. You’re reliable, well organised and able to communicate confidently with children, parents, teachers and colleagues. Most importantly, you’ll be enthusiastic, approachable and committed to being a positive role model who helps young people enjoy sport and build confidence through physical activity. The role We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Sports Coach to support the delivery of high-quality sports and physical activity sessions for children and young people. Based primarily at Talacre Sports Centre, you will help deliver recreational and squad-based sports sessions, support young people to develop their skills and confidence, and contribute to a positive customer experience for participants and families. You will be responsible for the safe use and storage of equipment, maintaining accurate attendance records, and supporting activities at competitions, events and training sessions where required. About you You will be passionate about sport and working with children and young people, with the ability to deliver engaging sessions that encourage participation and development. You will have a Level 2 British Gymnastics qualification, or be working towards it, alongside relevant practical experience. You will be reliable, approachable and committed to maintaining high standards of safety, customer care and professionalism. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential, as is a willingness to support events, competitions and training outside of normal sessions when needed. The role As a Sports Coach, you will lead and supervise children’s sports sessions as part of a wider coaching team, creating an exciting, friendly and safe environment for all participants. You will deliver high-quality recreational and squad-based sports sessions that encourage participation, develop skills and build confidence in young people. The role involves setting up and safely using sports equipment and facilities, ensuring equipment is stored securely and reporting any issues as needed. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate attendance and administrative records, supporting events and competitions, and attending training and team meetings when required. You will also support and oversee lower-level coaches during sessions, working closely with the Sports Development Officer and colleagues across the Sport and Physical Activity Service. The role is primarily based at Talacre Sports Centre, with some off-site work for competitions, events and community activities. About you You will have relevant coaching experience and hold a Level 3 British Gymnastics qualification, or be working towards this with substantial practical experience. You will be confident leading sessions with children and young people and committed to delivering a high standard of safety, care and customer service. You will be organised, reliable and approachable, with the ability to communicate clearly with children, parents, colleagues and members of the public. You’ll be comfortable working as part of a team, supporting junior coaches, and contributing positively to the wider service.
