Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join Lancaster City Council as an Apprentice Electrician and play a vital role in maintaining and improving electrical systems across council-owned properties. Your work will ensure safety, compliance, and high service standards in public buildings, markets, and cemeteries, directly supporting the wellbeing of our community.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll carry out diagnostic, installation, and maintenance electrical tasks with growing independence, following strict safety protocols. Working alongside repairs teams and subcontractors, you’ll manage stock levels, complete Portable Appliance Testing, and use electronic systems to track your work. Your role includes a 4-year NVQ apprenticeship at Lancaster & Morecambe College, with 20% of your time dedicated to study.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have GCSEs in Maths and English (grade 4 or above), strong organisational skills, and a methodical approach to your work. Good communication and teamwork are essential, as is physical fitness for the role. You’ll share our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. A full UK driving licence and basic DBS clearance are required by the end of your apprenticeship.
