This role is either self-employed or employed by the person in receipt of a Direct Payment.

About the role
We are looking for caring and reliable Personal Assistants to support people across North Somerset to live independently and lead the life they choose. As a Personal Assistant you will work directly for the individual you support or their family.

Who you might support

What the role may involve
Duties vary depending on the individual but may include:

  • Household tasks such as cooking, shopping, meal preparation, light cleaning
  • Supporting access to the community, work, or appointments
  • Attending social or leisure activities
  • Personal care and help with daily routines (not always required)
  • Providing companionship and building a trusted relationship

What we are looking for

  • Kind, patient, respectful and person-centred approach
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships
  • Experience in care is helpful but not essential

Employment options

Employed Personal Assistants:

  • Employed directly by the individual
  • Set hours, pay, and contract of employment
  • Entitled to paid leave and pension (where applicable)

Self-employed Personal Assistants:

  • Work with one or more clients
  • Set your own rates and hours
  • Responsible for tax, National Insurance, insurance, and DBS

Important information

  • Roles are arranged directly with individuals or families via Personal Assistants register
  • Hours and duties vary depending on the role
  • A new DBS check will be completed as is required for any Personal Assistants work
