The Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) hosted by Merton Council is one of the largest Environmental Health Services in London, with the Food and Safety Team responsible for overseeing more than 6,000 food businesses in Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth. The area covered is diverse in nature and includes a variety of high profile and interesting venues, such as Wimbledon Tennis, AFC Wimbledon, Twickenham Rugby, Battersea Power Station, New Covent Garden and Hampton Court Flower Show.
We have an exciting opportunity for talented and enthusiastic qualified professionals to join our team of dedicated Food and Health and Safety officers to deliver the food safety, health and safety and infectious disease function across the RSP boroughs.
As an authorised officer you will manage and deliver food hygiene and standards inspections of all premises type, including approved food premises. You will investigate complaints and accidents, using your knowledge, skills and experience, and applying the necessary behaviours.
You will mentor and supervise technical staff, sharing your knowledge and experience.
You should have a real passion for improving the environment and public health by engaging with our communities and businesses. You will be highly motivated, with a flexible approach and an eagerness to develop existing competencies as well as attaining new skills.
Whilst our administrative base in in London Borough of Merton, we operate hybrid working and provide touchdown points in all boroughs. There will be an opportunity for candidates to express a preference as to their preferred principal location.&nbsp;
You will be willing to work across the RSP though you will have an agreed principal borough.

Croydon is one of the busiest retail and business centres in the south of England outside of Central London. &nbsp;It has the largest population of any London Borough and its success as a regional centre very much depends upon the way its day-to-day traffic, highway, parking and road safety issues are managed. We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Traffic Engineer to work within the Parking Design Team on the design and implementation of parking schemes and the end-to-end process for the creation of Traffic Management Orders.&nbsp; The post holder is required to manage their workload with little supervision to provide stakeholders with a professional and efficient service. You will have a degree or ONC/HNC in civil engineering (or equivalent engineering qualification) and be able to demonstrate experience in the design and implementation of parking schemes.&nbsp; This will require a detailed understanding of design criteria for parking schemes and an understanding of Traffic Management Orders. You will have experience of formal and informal consultation, public notices and be able to deal with objections diplomatically and impartially.
You must be computer literate and have experience in the use of AutoCad and geographic information systems.&nbsp; For this position you must have excellent oral and written skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
You should also have a current driving licence or be able to travel quickly and efficiently around the Borough by other means. Starting salary will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Job Purpose
Croydon has a duty to ensure that all children of school age living within its boundaries have access to a suitable school place. It is responsible for administering young children’s start at school (reception places) and their transfer to secondary education. Croydon is also legally responsible for coordinating children’s transfer between schools during a school year when this is necessary or when parents’ desire this. It must make sure that children are not left without a school place even when individual pupils are vulnerable and have complex needs that make demands upon the schools that they are allocated to or when there is a shortage of places. This work amounts to approximately 15,000 school placements per year. The work involves liaison with a wide variety of admission authorities and Croydon has to coordinate and agree fair admission arrangements each year. These arrangements are complex. They are derived from many years of legal change and challenge. The arrangements must take account of parent’s preferences for their child’s school as well as the availability of school places and a variety of admissions priorities.&nbsp;
About You
Experience in education and in particular school admissions such as the Admission and Appeal Codes; the School Standards Framework Act 1998, Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, Academies Act, 2010.
Knowledge of legislation and guidance affecting the size and location and organisation of schools place including Net Capacity, Published Admission Numbers.
Understanding of additional needs and rights that some children have such as Special Educational Needs (including SEND), exclusions from school and the type of education available for children with behavioural difficulties, safeguarding, Looked After Children (LACs), parental rights and residence of children, children from overseas.
High-level reading and writing skills-able to understand and be familiar with statutory guidance and regulations.

You’ll work with landlords, tenants, contractors, and partner agencies to resolve complaints, take enforcement action where necessary, and provide expert advice on housing and public health issues.
Key responsibilities:
