Public Health Practitioner x3
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Public Health team dedicated to improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities in Croydon. You will be part of a small, fast-paced and agile team working across a range of public health priorities.
We are recruiting to three Public Health Practitioner roles.
- Two posts will work as part of the substance use team to support harm reduction, treatment and recovery for people using drugs and alcohol
- One post will focus on programmes related to early years and oral health.
As a Public Health Practitioner, you will play a key role in contributing to the development and delivery of projects and programmes that support longer, healthier lives for local residents. You will lead on specific areas of work and contribute to commissioning, service development, performance management and evaluation of public health initiatives. You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, NHS partners, community organisations and wider stakeholders to maximise positive health outcomes and reduce health inequalities. You may also line manage staff and support the development of others.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving population health and tackling inequalities in a local government context. You will demonstrate:
- Strong public health knowledge, supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent experience
- Experience of delivering public health programmes or projects either through work experience or experience during post-graduate studies, such as a Masters in Public Health
- Excellent analytical, communication, influencing and project management skills
- Ability to interpret and apply evidence, policy and guidance to local contexts
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and forward-thinking team.
In your supporting statement, please indicate if you have a role preference, or if you are open to all roles.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a high volume of applications is received, therefore early application is encouraged.
We anticipate that interviews will take place in the week commencing Monday 20th July 2026.
