You will be part of a committed enthusiastic team, focused on high performance and working to challenging financial and operational targets. You will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in processing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction scheme, this includes complex assessments such as Universal Credit, Self-Employed, Students, and Persons from Abroad. You will help those on low income to sustain their tenancies ensuring their benefits are maximised. 
 
You will work using your own initiative and prioritise conflicting deadlines, manage your time efficiently with good communication skills. You will need a good standard of numeracy and literacy, effectively responding to enquiries received by letter, telephone and e-mail. 
 
You will need to understand and be responsive to customer’s needs, always presenting a positive and professional image to the customer, whilst ensuring effective engagement with vulnerable and challenging customers. 
 
We offer hybrid working, however we are flexible taking into consideration personal circumstances. The Contracted hours are 36 hours a week and we offer a flexible working hours policy.

 About the Role You will be responsible for assisting the Revenues &amp; Benefits Quality Assurance Manager in providing quality assurance on the Local Taxation and Benefits functions (Council Tax, Business Rates, BID’s and Benefits). We will provide you with the necessary support and training so you may grow and develop your career. You will work closely with colleagues, customers, and external agencies to provide a high-quality service.
Regular inspections will be required for sites that have been given planning permission, be it new builds, alterations or developments, where you will need to monitor their progression to establish an effective date of entry, for when they can be brought into the valuation/rating list. Please note that it is a requirement of this role to have a full UK driving licence and access to a car that can be driven for Council business purposes.

Fixed Term post/Secondment Opportunity

The Post
An exciting opportunity within Brent Customer Access has arisen in our Revenues &amp; Debt service. The successful post holder will be responsible for inspecting new and altered dwellings and hereditaments to ensure that the Council Tax and Business Rates Lists are accurately maintained, and the accurate valuation requests are raised to the Valuation Office.
The successful candidate is one who can work effectively as part of a team, be able to effectively manage the day-to-day work and actively contribute to the achieving the team’s objectives.
As an Inspector you need to be able to travel around the borough and work as a ‘lone worker’.
A full clean driving licence is desirable.
The Person
You need to possess good knowledge of the Council Tax, NNDR and Valuation regulations; being familiar with the Brent area and experience with inspecting is desirable. You need to have energy, be well organised, be positive and passionate in your approach and be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
The successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise and manage their inspection workload and ensure that team targets are achieved. Candidates need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with customers and liaise with other departments to obtain information to maintain accurate records for Council Tax and Business Rates.

About the Role:
As an Insurance Officer, you will assist the Senior Insurance Officers in handling a variety of insurance claims, the management of the Council’s insurance policies and the administration of the claims management system. You will also advise Council services on the management of risk to ensure the adherence to Council policies and the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
About the Candidate:
The successful candidate will work closely with other service areas and with external providers, to ensure that they meet service levels for compiling information and providing good quality reporting. Therefore, excellent communication skills are essential.
You will have the ability to work effectively to meet tight deadlines, when you have several competing demands on your time. The ideal candidate will also have good customer service skills and be able to manage difficult situations.
