The project sits within the Integrated Youth Support Service and includes partnership work with the Youth Justice Service, Social Care, Youth Early Help and Connexions, as well as maintaining strong community relationships with other organisations in the borough. As a Specialist Youth Employability Worker, you will support the Project Manager in delivering barista training and employability skills to young people referred into the programme, primarily those who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). You will help manage the commercial aspects of the Honest Grind Coffee brand and contribute to driving the success and growth of the programme. You will contribute to service outcomes by creatively engaging vulnerable young people in skills development and guiding them on a pathway into employment, working in a trauma-informed and empathetic capacity, being flexible in your approach and adaptable to different learning styles. As an Operational Officer – Reception, the post holder will be the first point of contact via reception and telephone for enquires from service users and visitors.&nbsp; They will need the ability to respond promptly to incoming queries and assist everybody that comes into the building, this involves liaising with children, young people and staff at all levels of the organisation.&nbsp; The role involves organising and coordinating Referral Order Panel meetings with Panel members, children and parents/family members/carers as well as supporting case managers in updating court results and out of court disposals on our internal systems.
You will have excellent telephone and communication skills; the ability to work on your own initiative and excellent organisational skills to ensure that you work within tight and competing deadlines.&nbsp; We are seeking an individual with relevant experience who can contribute new ideas and start working effectively from the outset.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will also need a good working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel and other software packages with the ability to use various databases.
The role requires occasional evening work.

Independent Visitor - Volunteer Opportunity

Location: Opportunities across districts in Hertfordshire. Please specify your preferred location at application stage. Salary: £12.85- £13.52 per hour Hours: Opportunities for 5, 7.5 or 10 hours per week term-time; in the evenings. Contract: Permanent Are you passionate about helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to get the best start in life?Are you energetic and creative with skills and knowledge to share?Our excellent training and ongoing support will turn your passion into expertise that can change lives.<h4>About the Team</h4>You will be in one of the 10 Services for Young People district teams and will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the prospects of young people.Working with young people locally aged 11 to 17 in groups of 12-25, many of whom face challenges in their home life, education or local community, you’ll help us deliver targeted prevention and early interventions, informal education opportunities and develop their skills. &nbsp;Supported by qualified and experienced staff, you will be a key member of our team supporting the delivery of a diverse range of curriculum programmes including independent living skills and emotional wellbeing, to supporting young people in staying away from crime, anti-social behaviour and offering guidance on relationships and sexual health.<h4>About the role</h4>Our sessions run for 2.5 hours and typically evenings Monday – Saturday during term time which depending on the weekly hours you can commit to could be the following:<ul><li>5 hours = 2 sessions a week</li><li>7.5 hours = 3 sessions a week</li><li>10 hours = 4 sessions a week</li></ul>We’re looking for people from a wide variety of backgrounds who have worked with Children and/or Young People in a voluntary or paid capacity.Additionally, we are keen to hear from those who have skills to share in areas such as sports, outdoor learning, art &amp; crafts, media, music, health as a tool to establish a relationship and engagement with our young people.If you’re passionate about working with young people, keen to learn, have good communication skills and are a team player, you’ll fit right in to our friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment.Whilst a driving license is not essential some of our locations can be a little challenging on public transport so a car and license would be preferrable. In return, amongst many benefits and training Hertfordshire can offer you, we will offer you opportunities to develop your youth work practice.<h4>About you</h4>Essential:<ul><li>Willingness and ability to work regular weekly evening sessions including Fridays.</li><li>Having worked or currently working in a role with children and/of Young People (paid or voluntary capacity)</li><li>Ability to develop professional relationships with young people and vulnerable young adults.</li><li>Good knowledge, interests, skills or training that would enable you to contribute to positive informal educational activities with young people and vulnerable young adults.</li><li>Understanding of the key issues which young people and vulnerable young adults face and the ability to identify their needs.</li><li>Experience of working as a member of a team and evidence of successful contributions you have made to a team's work.</li><li>Willingness and ability to complete the compulsory Certificate in Youth Work, a commitment to undertake ongoing professional development and to put what you learn into practice.</li><li>An understanding of equal opportunities and knowledge of how you would put that into practice.</li></ul>Desirable:<ul><li>Skills in areas such as sports, outdoor learning, art &amp; crafts, media, music, health</li><li>Full UK driving licence &amp; regular access to a vehicle.</li></ul>We welcome applications from candidates who currently reside in the UK with established proof of right to work documentation.
