Job Summary

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and energetic Sessional Playworkers to join our team and help deliver fun and engaging school holiday play opportunities across Blaenau Gwent.

If you enjoy working with children, being creative, and making a positive difference in your community, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the Role

We’re excited to welcome motivated Sessional Playworkers to support our holiday provision, offering high-quality, inclusive play experiences for children and young people.

In this role, you’ll help create safe, welcoming spaces where children can relax, play freely, and be themselves. Whether it’s supporting games, crafts, outdoor adventures, or imaginative play, you’ll play an important part in making each day enjoyable and meaningful.

You’ll encourage children to explore their ideas, build confidence, develop friendships, and have a voice in shaping their play experiences. Every day will be different, rewarding, and full of energy.

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Passionate about working with children and supporting play
  • Friendly, approachable, and a strong team player
  • A confident communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and reliable, with a positive attitude
  • Willing to learn about safeguarding and child protection
  • Experienced in working with children (helpful, but not essential)
  • Qualified in Playwork, Childcare, or Youth Work — or willing to work towards it

Working Hour: This is a sessional role during school holidays, with availability needed for up to 35 hours per week, including:

  • Summer holidays 2026 (5 weeks)
  • October half term 2026 (1 week)
  • February half term 2027 (1 week)
  • Easter holidays 2027 (1 week)

Please note: These posts are currently funded until 31st March 2027.

Additional Information: This position includes an Approved Casual Car User Allowance, so access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential. All roles are subject to thorough pre-employment checks, including a Disclosure of Criminal Records (DBS) application.
