Are you a vibrant, energetic instructor with a passion for making fitness accessible to everyone? We are looking for a qualified Zumba Gold® Facilitator to lead our popular low-intensity dance sessions.
Zumba Gold® is more than just a workout; it is a celebration of movement designed specifically for older adults, beginners, and those returning to exercise following illness or injury. We are seeking an instructor who can bring the rhythm and passion of Latin and international dance to the studio while ensuring every participant feels safe, supported, and successful.
The primary goal of this role is to deliver a gentle yet exhilarating fitness experience that improves the physical and mental well-being of our learners. You will be responsible for creating an inclusive atmosphere where the “Zumba party” atmosphere remains intact, but the pace and intensity are expertly modified to suit the needs of the participants.
As the facilitator, you will guide the group through a curriculum designed to provide holistic health benefits.
Key focus areas include:
- Rhythm and Movement: Leading simple, engaging choreography set to vibrant Latin and International rhythms.
- Functional Fitness: Focusing on movements that improve balance and coordination, making the daily lives of our learners safer and easier.
- Physical Health: Supporting cardiovascular health and muscle endurance through heart-healthy activity, alongside gentle movements to boost flexibility and range of motion.
- Cognitive & Mental Well-being: Using dance to support cognitive function through pattern recognition and rhythm, while providing a space for creative self-expression.
- Social Connection: Fostering a supportive group environment that combats isolation and promotes social health.
Key Responsibilities
- Expert Facilitation: Deliver fun, high-energy sessions while maintaining a low-impact, safe environment for all fitness levels.
- Adaptation and Inclusion: Continuously monitor participants and provide modifications to choreography to ensure the class is accessible to those with varying physical requirements.
- Ensure all participants are working within their own pace and level, providing guidance on safe movement to prevent injury.
- Motivate and inspire learners, ensuring they leave each session feeling energised and connected.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential Certification: A valid Zumba Gold® License is a mandatory requirement for this role.
- Fitness Qualification: A Level 2 (or higher) Exercise to Music or Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Adults) is highly desirable.
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of how to adapt exercise for older adults or those with medical considerations (e.g., joint issues or post-illness recovery).
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain movements clearly and encourage those who may be nervous about exercising.
- Collaborative Approach: While you will lead the class, you will work as part of the wider college team. While prior teaching experience in an adult education setting is advantageous, we are primarily seeking individuals with strong industry expertise and the right license.
- Passion: A genuine desire to help older adults and beginners improve their quality of life through the joy of dance.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the community, helping our learners stay active, healthy, and connected.
