    YOUTH VOICE AND PARTICIPATION COORDINATOR ADVERTISEMENT

    Are you passionate in helping young people be the best they can be? Are you great at talking to young people and engaging them in activities and conversations?

    The BYouth Young People’s Service work with young people between the ages of 11-19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs) who may need support in making a positive transition to adulthood, through youth work practice and approaches.

    The BYouth service provides positive leisure time opportunities for young people to get involved in whilst promoting their personal and social development, helping them to make a successful transition into young adulthood.

    Working within our Youth Voice Team, the Youth Voice and Participation Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of the day to day work of Barnsley’s Youth Council and its bi-annual election process. This will also involve:

    • Youth voice campaign activity design and delivery
    • Young Mayor programme development
    • School engagement and consultation
    • Design and delivering of training programmes to equip youth council members with personal and social development skills
    • Organising positive activities trips and visits
    • Work with other youth voice groups as determined

    The Coordinator will be expected to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to connect young people into opportunities and should be able to demonstrate creative youth work approaches to session planning, delivery and project evaluation reporting.

    You should be able to develop inclusive youth work opportunities that promote young people’s interest in democracy and active citizenship to drive young people’s priorities and local campaign activities and programmes. You will work in both digital and face to face settings to engage and deliver work with young people and should be comfortable in working in these environments.

    The post will operate on an any 5 from 7 day working week basis , will include regular evening activities and some weekends as part of a flexible working arrangement.

    You will report into the Youth Operations Manager who will have overall operational responsibility for youth voice and participation workstreams across Barnsley Council and its partners.

    Salary range
