    This post is part-time and only for 39 weeks of the year.

    The Youth Club Leader will provide support, guidance, and mentoring to young people aged 11-24 who attend one of Blaenau Gwent Youth Service's Youth Club provisions. In addition to leading a small team of youth workers within the Youth Club setting, I ensure all outcomes are met.

    An exciting and rewarding opportunity has opened for an enthusiastic individual to join the authority’s youth service team and help provide a range of activities, mentor, support, and provide information and guidance to young people attending an open-access youth club provision.

    As a Youth Club Leader, you will provide leadership to a small team of staff, undertake supervision and lead them to meet all outcomes and work programmes. The Leader will also be responsible for planning and delivering a full programme of activity for young people, taking into account their needs.

    You will develop strong links with the other youth clubs and the surrounding community in order to help meet the needs of the young person and community, to provide a comprehensive and holistic programme of work, whilst also addressing barriers some young people may face.

    The role requires a minimum of a level 3 qualification in Youth and Community Work and EWC registration under the category of Youth Support Worker or Working towards, or a willingness to achieve the level 3 qualification in Youth and Community Work and EWC registration within a reasonable timeframe following appointment. (Please note that if you already hold a qualification listed within EWC guidance, you have to have a valid EWC registration before commencing in post.)

    Required skills include.

    • excellent interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to relate to and enthuse young people,
    • the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team,
    • the ability to assess the needs of young people and develop an appropriate programme of works, and
    • a high level of personal resilience, including the ability to manage conflict and deal with stressful situations.
