    Can you be our spark…?

    Background:

Barnsley YJS is an innovative statutory service that works with adolescents who are often the most complex, yet under-represented children in our community. We work under a ‘Child First’ approach that actively engages children and families to support repairing harm, by co-producing plans that will reduce risks, make our community safer, and give the child the best chance of a positive and rewarding life. As we continue to push to achieve best standards, we are determined to have for our children a rich and empowering programme of group and 1-2-1 interventions – our desistence portfolio.

    The post:

You will champion service improvement using evidence-based approaches, demonstrating a proven track record in effective group delivery, evaluation, and intervention. Your expertise will help ensure our services are impacting, inspiring and continuously evolving to meet the needs of young people.

Working in a role of relative seniority, you will work with managers, and alongside our workforce to:

v Coordinate and deliver group interventions, using research-backed methods to promote desistance from offending.

v Develop new interventions, based on need, managing the project from concept inception to delivery phase

v Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and interventions and drive service improvement.

v Hold responsibility for high delivery standards to always ensure inspection readiness, through practice QA and skills development within the wider service.

v Provide ad hoc and structured mentoring support to motivate and inspire young people, empowering them towards positive futures.

v Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to ensure Barnsley’s systemic response to key issues is aligned, thus enhancing outcomes for our client group.

v Co-ordinate the delivery of programmes by the wider staff group - management of key processes and supervising staff where required.

    You:

v You have a relentless drive to help children, rooted in experience of working with children who are impacted by crime, exploitation or other adverse child experiences

v You will be proven in direct delivery of programmes of structured work and/or comprehensive programmes of street-based/community interventions to adolescents.

v You will have experience of engaging and inspiring adolescent children with complex needs or a history of exposure to exploitation, harm or the criminal justice system

v You will have the skill to devise evidence-based and effective programmes of intervention, building in evaluation to ensure impact can be measured

v You will have a sound knowledge of key issues that impact on youth offending, the daily lives of cohort and of contemporary approaches to achieve best outcomes in response

v You will be highly resilient and tenacious in your work, professionally gravitating towards - not shy away, from working directly with children who will challenge you every day.

Do you have what we need? Do you have the spark?

If so, apply today to join our team and be part of a forward-thinking service dedicated to lasting change.
