    What is the job role?

    The Role
    We’re looking for a Part Time (18.5 hours a week) Business Analyst to join the West Midlands Commissioning Hub team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting all 14 West Midlands Local Authorities and Trusts by providing high-quality data analysis and insights.

    You will be working within the West Midlands Commissioning Hub, a team hosted by Coventry City Council that supports and delivers regional commissioning of children’s services. The team has expanded its reporting responsibilities and now needs an additional Analyst to support with the range of data analysis it delivers.

    This is post is initially a two year fixed term contract.

    You will:

    • Support intelligence performance reporting and insights for the West Midlands Commissioning Hub and the 14 Local Authorities and Trusts in the region.
    • Develop data models and visualisations using tools such as Power BI.
    • Produce reports, dashboards, and analytical products to inform strategic and operational decisions.
    • Gather and prepare high-quality data from multiple sources, including education, social care, and national datasets.
    • Present insights clearly and confidently to influence decision-making across regional partners.

    This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

    Who are we looking for?

    About You
    We’re looking for someone with:

    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
    • Experience in data analysis and reporting, ideally within a Local Authority.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, with knowledge of SQL.
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
    • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

    You’ll be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, and passionate about using data to make a real difference for children’s services across the West Midlands.
