    About the Role:

    We’re looking for someone who is motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative to join our well-established Welfare Rights Team, ‘Every Pound Counts@, providing benefit advice to ill and disabled vulnerable adults, who are unable to access benefits services in the community.

    As part of a busy team of benefit advisers, you will be responsible for providing benefit checks and helping people with all stages of the benefit process.

    The role requires expertise in benefits coupled with an empathetic and patient approach as many of our people have serious health issues and often need to be visited in their own home. This is a core element of our service. The role involves a lot of partnership working as most people are referred to our service by statutory services.

    This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

    All About You


    You will need an up-to-date extensive knowledge of welfare rights benefits, rules, changes and legislation. You will need an understanding of physical and mental health issues and how this impact on someone’s life, and on their ability to claim and retain their welfare benefits. You will be passionate about providing good quality advice. You should also be able to work under your own initiative to manage a complex and diverse workload and work collaboratively.

    You will also need to show evidence of the following:

    • Recent direct experience in giving detailed benefits advice and undertaking benefit checks, including a detailed knowledge of means and non means tested benefits, disability benefits, with extensive knowledge of Universal Credit
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience of working to deadlines, providing high quality written submissions for reviews

    This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
