Join Barnsley Museums as a Visitor Services Assistant!

Do you love heritage, museums, and the arts? Are you passionate about providing excellent customer service and creating memorable experiences for visitors?

Barnsley Museums is looking for two Visitor Services Assistant to join our award-winning team. You’ll help welcome and support visitors at our fantastic venues:

• Cannon Hall Museum, Park & Gardens
• Cooper Gallery
• Elsecar Heritage Centre
• Experience Barnsley
• Worsbrough Mill

What you’ll do:

No two days are the same! Your role will include:

• Opening and closing historic buildings
• Greeting visitors and leading tours
• Supporting volunteers
• Caring for collections
• Helping keep our sites clean and welcoming
• Selling souvenirs and craft items in our shops

Last year, we welcomed over two million visitors—our venues are cherished parts of the community, and we’re proud of the experience we offer.

About the roles:

• These roles will be based at Elsecar Heritage Centre (permanent post) and at Worsbrough Mill & Country Park (temporary post until 31 March 2026) though you will be asked to work at other sites as needed
• Weekend work is a regular part of the role, and you will work on a rota basis where you can work any 5 in 7 days
