Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.

We are proud of our world-famous thriving city with its rich culture, as well as affordable housing, good schools, beautiful green spaces – there’s really something for everyone!

Our Practice Model – “Our City, Our Children, Together” – was chosen by colleagues, parents and carers, children, and young people to reflect our collective commitment to working collaboratively, it is more than just a practice model, it is a shared vision. This is a model we can be proud of and one that truly belongs to all of us.

    The role:

Help improve educational outcomes for Liverpool's care experienced children and young people

Liverpool City Council's Virtual School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Virtual School Education Officer to join our team. We are recruiting to one permanent position and two additional fixed-term posts to strengthen our capacity and provide enhanced support to children and young people whilst managing increasing caseloads.

As a Virtual School Education Officer, you will play a key role in promoting the educational achievement, attendance, participation and progression of care experienced children and young people, and children with a social worker. Working closely with schools, social workers, carers and other professionals, you will help ensure children receive the support they need to achieve their potential.

You will contribute to the development, quality assurance and monitoring of Personal Education Plans (PEPs), track educational progress and outcomes, provide advice and challenge to partner agencies, and support multi-agency approaches that improve life chances for some of Liverpool's most vulnerable children and young people.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience of working with children, young people and families, either within education, children's services, youth work, social care or a related field. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised and committed to improving outcomes through collaborative working and strong professional relationships.

    About You:

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

    • Experience of working within a school, local authority or similar setting
    • Experience of multi-agency partnership working
    • A track record of supporting vulnerable children and young people to achieve positive outcomes
    • Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
    • The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a supportive team
    • A commitment to inclusion, equality and improving opportunities for care experienced children and young people

A Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline is essential. A qualification in education, youth work, social care or a related field would be advantageous.

    Why Join Us?

You will be joining a committed and ambitious Virtual School team that places children and young people at the centre of everything it does. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements, excellent learning and development opportunities, and the chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people across Liverpool.
