
Trainee Solicitor

We are looking for someone like you to join our team! You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal disciplines, learning from specialist lawyers on matters including litigation, property, contracts and more, with a view to your qualification and admission as a solicitor.
What will you be doing?
- Developing your skills and knowledge of the legal profession, including, but not limited to, advocacy and oral presentations; case and transaction management; client care; communication skills; document drafting and preparation; interviewing and advising; interpretation and research.
- Carrying a mixed caseload of local government work under supervision, in accordance with experience and expertise gained during the Training Contract.
- Where deemed appropriate, to advocate in appropriate uncontested hearings in civil and criminal matters, to present the Council’s case in the Magistrates, County Court or other such tribunal forum.
- Drafting contracts agreements and deeds relating to all aspects of the Council’s business, as well as instructions to Counsel and reports.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- Self-motivation and enthusiasm with a strong desire to learn,
- Good research and analytical skills,
- Excellent IT and communication skills, with ability to relate well to others,
- A commitment to training and self-development; and
- A wish to pursue a career in Local Authority law.

Salary range
- £29,793 - £31,751 per year
