
Trading Standards Enforcement Officer

Within a small yet proactive Trading Standards team we are look for a motivated and committed individual who can undertake a wide range of trading standards functions, including the investigation of criminal offences, inspection of a wide range of premises and the provision of business advice.
We champion partnership working with neighbouring authorities, Police, private sector and others. Based in the Civic hub in Ilford’s diverse town centre, we actively encourage agile working and measurement of success by outcomes.
About You
Experience of carrying out trading standards inspections, investigations or other criminal enforcement and compliance activities is vital. You must be competent in the legal process aspects of the role and the safeguards applicable when taking enforcement action.
This is an active field officer post, and you will have to exercise warrants, pursue rogue traders and support victims. You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter and completer / finisher with good communication and negotiation skills. You will work in partnership with neighbouring North-East London authorities, Police, Fire, Customs, Home Office and other enforcement teams. You will need the full range of investigation and reporting skills, including appearance at Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a record of achievement and a commitment to supporting vulnerable victims, consumers and compliant businesses within the borough.
A full driving licence and means of travel to multiple sites around the borough is essential.

Salary range
- £43,680 - £45,750 per year
